Dartmouth
Plenty of naval history at Dartmouth. Visit the castle or wander the art galleries and cafes, or just wash the boats. Dartmouth enjoys some excellent restaurants. Pick up a boat tour up the River Dart to Greenway or Totnes.
Elberry Cove
A beautfiul, tucked away people beach with the remains of Lord Churstons Bath house. Walk along the coastal path to get there

Battery Gardens
A short walk from the house. Visit the museum for a fascinating insight into the war history of the area. It is run by volunteers, tours of the garden and underground tunnels on open days. Brixham Museum
Housed in the old police station. Run by volunteers, provides a fascinating history into the maritime, fishing, military and early history of the area. Opening hours are limited, check the website for further information:
Torquay
Popular with visitors since Victorian times. Walk through Torre Abbey and find the garden which has been planted with the various poisons Agatha Christie used in her fiction ! Visit Babbacombe and Oddicombe beaches with the funicular railway.
Drop in on the model village at Babbacombe or the ancient caves at Kents Cavern.
South Hams
The name South Hams comes from the old English word “hamme”, meaning an enclosed or sheltered space. This refers to the climate of the area, which is one of the mildest in Britain thanks to its southerly location and protection by Dartmoor's battered granite hilltops.
